Missions
Mission is the heart of who we are as a congregation. God has given each person gifts to be in mission with Christ to the world. To be in mission to the world means being seekers of justice. Biblical justice is simply defined as caring for the poor, oppressed, the hurting and the enslaved of our community and world.
Crawfordville United Methodist Church has many ongoing missions in which you can take part:
1) International missions- If you have a heart for children in another country and would like to help us meet some of their needs, join our international mission team. You can help us brainstorm ways to be in ministry with needy people in another country or even join us on our yearly mission trip to Ecuador.
2) Summer Feeding Program- We believe that disciples of Jesus seek to eradicate extreme poverty within our own communities. To this end we have a yearly Summer Feeding program that seeks to meet the needs of potentially at-risk, hungry children within our own county. Come play with us as we feed those children in our community that may not have a meal when school is out. Read to them, play games with them, laugh with them. Our summer program this summer runs from June 14th-18th and June 28th-July 2nd. To volunteer or to sign up your child call the church office.
3) Wakulla Pregnancy Center- Do you love babies? How about loving them by supporting their mothers. The Wakulla Pregnancy Center collects diapers, wipes, and baby items for needy moms. We are actively seeking ways in which we can further this mission.
4) Promiseland ministries- We financially support Promiseland and are seeking ways to join this mission to assist those who are less fortunate than ourselves. These men don’t need a hand out, but they do need a hand up! Reach out yours to help your brothers.
5) Radical Restoration House- This is another ministry that we support financially and are seeking other ways to assist them in their mission. The Radical Restoration House provides a safe site where women can transition back into our community from addiction and imprisonment. Your assistance can be as simple as providing items for the ladies themselves or donating to their thrift store.
6) Adopt a “buddy” at Eden Springs. Approximately one-third of the residents have no family members. CUMC organizes periodic visits, seasonal gift bags, and one-on-one visitations to share the love of Christ. Reading, listening, and sharing is so important.
7) Back to school drive- Help struggling families to provide area students with the materials they need to begin the school year, including supplies and clothing.
8) CUMC food pantry- many families do not have enough food to meet the needs of the family. Help collect supplies, assemble bags of groceries, and distribute food. Be a part of feeding the hungry as Jesus taught us in both words and actions.
